Process

To develop this web site, we are using an engineering approach. The basic process is as follows:

Engineering Process

  • define the scope of a system
  • study the system functions and operations
  • recommend changes to the system (get approval)
  • design new procedures and components
  • supervise construction of new or changed components
  • supervise testing of new system
  • supervise implementation of new system

Then we ask a question - Is the system working the way we desire? If not, go back to the beginning of the process and repeat.

The system selected is today's world wide human society.

We also use the GPP technique to guide the effort.

GPP Technique - Goals Plans Priorities

Using the GPP technique we can begin to get our activities and knowledge organized. We start by asking ourselves three questions:

  1. What do we want to achieve? These become our Goals.
  2. How do we achieve our goals? We can achieve our goals by developing Plans.
  3. Where do we spend our valuable time? We can establish a list of Priorities to help decide how to use our resources.

In addition, we also use problem solving to analyze problems with the existing system and propose solutions.

Problem Solving

If we really understand the problem, the answer will come out of it, because the answer is not separate from the problem. [Krishnamurti]

Documentation

As with any engineering process, we document the assumptions which are in effect during the effort. We also document concepts, principle and terms which are used during the course of the effort.
